Pastor John VanHouten Jr

Men's Ministry Leader

John is married to Melissa and has 3 children, Johnny, Noah and Arwen. His family is important to him and he is proud of them. John received his schooling through South Eastern University and is a licensed minister with the Assemblies of God. He is the Men’s rep for the Northeast section as well. John has served the church through Bible Studies, Sunday School teacher, VBS helper, preached sermons, and is the Men’s Ministry leader.

John enjoys working with the men in Men’s Ministry and he believes that men’s ministry is more than a Saturday morning breakfast – whether they are laboring outside on the church property, building sets for VBS or decorations, having campfires, or studying God’s Word together and praying together- John sees the importance of working together and growing together. He believes that as men grow in their walk with the LORD then they in turn will help their family and friends to grow in the things of God. John believes it is important to reach men with the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

One of his favorite verses is “Be alert and on your guard; stand firm in your faith (your conviction respecting man’s relationship to God and divine things, keeping the trust and holy fervor born of faith and a part of it). Act like men and be courageous; grow in strength!” 1 Corinthians 16:13 Amplified

Children's Ministries

My adventure in children’s ministries began at an early age helping my parents as they pastored a home missions church in Silver Creek, NY. I attended Messiah College where I earned a B.S. in Elementary Education. I worked in the inner city of Baltimore until I married my husband, Dan in 2000. When we started our family, we moved back to Mill City, PA and have been involved in children’s ministry ever since.

We have lead Wednesday kids groups, worked in the nursery, led Vacation Bible Schools and taught Sunday School and Junior Church classes.

My passion for Children’s Ministry comes from the verses found in Matthew 19:14-15 “But Jesus said, “Let the children come to Me. Don’t stop them! For the Kingdom of Heaven belongs to those who are like these children.” And He placed His hands on their heads and blessed them before He left.” My desire is that children know they can come to Jesus; that He has plans and purposes for their lives. I want children and their families to feel encouraged in their development of their faith. I desire for the blessing and favor of God be upon our children.
